It's the Week In Review!

Coming late to the party on a Monday evening, it's the MLB Week in Review, Week 10 edition. This one's for the kids, as BSG takes a look at the youth of the baseball nation. It was a big week for the Nationals youth, with Bryce Harper, Strasburg, and our buddy , Drew Storen on the scene. And even the US - England World Cup match couldn't top the Daniel Nava, rags to riches story. It's the Week-In-Review!

Stop us if you've heard this one, but apparently something went down in Detroit this week involving a pitcher, an umpire, and a 28 out Perfect Game. Well BSG wants to chime in too, so for his take on the Galarraga/Joyce debacle, and the rest of the news from the 9th week of the 2010 season, here's the Week-In-Review!

BSG is back from Book Week madness with the current installment of the Week in Review. Lotta stories to cover from the past week, including the Reds in first place, but BSG wants to focus on some walk-offs. We've got Kubel, Kearns, Bosch, and Olivo, and if you don't know why the names are important, don't worry, BSG's got you covered. Enjoy!

The Rangers looked good in their first test against prominent division rivals, the Oakland A's, winning the series this week 2-1. And as they head up to Toronto today to challenge the mighty Blue Jays, BSG takes a look at what makes this such a great stance team. With the Angels on the decline, C.J. Wilson getting things done on the mound, and Hamilton, Kinsler, and Cruz at the plate, might this be the year the Rangers add a 2nd win to their postseason journal? Or is it just the year you buy a book about batting stances? Either way, it's the 2010 Rangers.

Just to prove that we haven't forgotten our roots now that we're big time published authors, today we continue on with our team "preview" series. We'll kick things off with the Reds, who, as BSG notes, haven't seen a winning season since 2000. But things are looking up in Cincy these days, and partially thanks to the stance magic of Brandon Phillips, the Reds currently find themselves only a game back of the mighty Cardinals. In a preview that takes an equal look at fertility and baseball, here are the 2010 Reds. Enjoy!

From the way things have started out there, whoever comes outta the NL West this year is gonna have to win a fight. Will it be the Rockies? Gammonds and Reynolds like em, but does BSG? He got an inside look at the rocky mountain boys last year, but, as usual, it's the lineup that interests him most. And for our daily reader Don Baylor, he's got a couple suggestions on how to manage your hitters. It's the 2010 Rockies.

How many weeks into the season will calling these things previews start to sound ridiculous? We gotta be getting close. Man how bout that game 2 last night Cleveland? You need an elbow repair STAT! BSG's worries that Magglio Ordonez stored his mojo in his jheri curl mullet were calmed yesterday as Mags got his 2,000th career hit in a win over the Twins. Those two seemed to have picked back up right where they left off last year in the AL Central, which should mean another fun battle for all of us. BSG likes the Detroit lineup, and, like the rest of the world, thinks the Damon addition will probably help. But he still misses that jheri curl. Enjoy!

Fun fact for the day: today in 1986 Roger Clemens struck out 20 Mariners. The M's are lookin better in 2010 though, and after a pre-season cover appearance on ESPN The Magazine, they're the trendy pick in the AL West. Maybe folks are just sick of the Angels taking it, who knows. If you're not familiar with the new Seattle lineup, BSG doesn't miss a one. Here are your 2010 Seattle Mariners. Enjoy!

So we swear we recorded this before the Rays had the best record in baseball, but even if you don't believe us, they do, and we did, so lets get on it with it. BSG likes him some Rays. He likes that it would feel as natural to see Madden at a Coldplay concert as in the dugout at Tropicana. He likes that they've got a roster brimming with young talent. He likes that, in the toughest division in baseball, they've come outta the gates red hot. Does that have anything to do with the fact that they gave him his own jersey? You decide. The 2010 Rays.

Fresh off his career 1000th hit, BSG takes a look at Hideki Matsui and the rest of the 2010 Angels. Just how does Mike Scioscia keep this club at the top of the AL West and competing in the playoffs year after year? BSG isn't sure, but he loves the lineup and the fact that the All-Star game will be in Anaheim this year. Enjoy your 2010 Angels!

If you were too caught up in NFL Draft action and the 1st round of the NHL and NBA playoffs, here's what you missed in Major League Baseball. As the Blue Jays look to Twitter to solve their attendance problem at SkyDome, BSG looks to Toronto's past to help get their fans in the mood for the 2010 season. The AL East is a tough place to live, so why mess with analyzing current rosters when we can hop in the Wayback Machine and visit the magical year of 1998, and a lineup too good to be true. Enjoy!

Mets fans, BSG feels your pain. The big offseason move for Jason Bay has yet to really have an impact, and with injuries to guys like Beltran, you 'other' NY fans are left to wonder, once more, when will it be our year. So BSG invites you to enjoy the little things; like the new David Wright leg kick, the posture of Gary Matthews Jr., and the hope that is Ike Davis. Stay strong Mets fans, stay strong.

If there's a better collection of stances in MLB this year, BSG can't find it. In fact he dares you, nay, DOUBLE-DOG dares you to name a better group of batter's box antics than what they have going on in Chicago this season. The 2010 White Sox are just loaded; Quentin, Beckham, Pierre, Konerko, Alexei, Teahen, Vizquel, the list goes on and on. So here they are, your 2010 White Sox. Enjoy!

Everyone's gearing up for the start of the Philles-Braves series tonight, and the showdown between Ryan Howard and his young counterpart, the rookie phenom force that is Jason Heyward. BSG is excited about what's going on in the ATL this season too. The combo of the Heyward sensation, the final season for Bobby Cox, and a birthday shout-out from Ron Gant, have him making some rare post-season predictions for the perennial NL power. Find out what they are in his 2010 Braves Preview. Enjoy!

Week 2 is in the books. Speaking of books, have we mentioned that BSG has a new book coming out May 11th? Anyway the second week of MLB action left BSG with an incredulous taste in his mouth. A sub-10k fan turnout in Toronto, pitchers in the outfield in St. Louis, and a 100 pitch warm-up for K-Rod?! What gives? BSG ponders these and other early-season oddities in his week 2 recap. Enjoy?
