MLB Week in Review: 9/19/11

Sure, it’s college football season. But we don’t care about that here at BSG Inc. However, if Kirk Gibson’s original team clinches a postseason berth and team he manages is on the cusp of postseason berth….well…then MLB Week in Review must be conducted from a college football game! It’s the Week in Review! www.BattingStanceGuy.com Twitter: [...]

Brennan Boesch : Rookie Watch 2010

Brennan Boesch raced out to the hottest start in the AL for 2010 rookies. He has since come back to earth but is leading the Tigers in jersey sales and quirky swing follow-thru's. Both important. Rookie Watch salutes BB.

2010 Rookie Watch : Austin Jackson

Austin Jackson is quickly moving through Tigers rookie history as his hitting numbers continue to grow.  You already have to go back to 1961 and Jake Wood to find the last Tigers rookie with as many hits in his opening season, and there appears to be nothing slowing this kid down.  For all the Detroit fans who have been screaming at BSG all month long, your day has come.  It's Austin Jackson Rookie Watch!

Top 7 Trade Deadline Deals

After all the dust settled from yesterday's trade deadline, here's what we were left with, the Royals are still not in contention.  As for the rest of the league, BSG breaks down the top 7 deals to go down this past week, from the home of Oswalt's rocky start as a new member of Phillies.

2010 Tigers Preview

BSG's worries that Magglio Ordonez stored his mojo in his jheri curl mullet were calmed yesterday as Mags got his 2,000th career hit in a win over the Twins.  Those two seemed to have picked back up right where they left off last year in the AL Central, which should mean another fun battle for all of us.  BSG likes the Detroit lineup, and, like the rest of the world, thinks the Damon addition will probably help.  But he still misses that jheri curl. Enjoy!

Magglio Ordoñez’s 2006 ALCS-ending HR

We got a good one going in Detroit folks.  Yesterday the Twins and Tigers split the doubleheader to keep the Tigers 2 up.  Today they start the 2nd half of their 4-game series at Comerica.  The evening win for the Tigers yesterday was thanks in large part to a 2 run scoring double from a guy who's done it before for em.  Have a look at the shot Magglio Ordonez hit in the 2006 ALCS to sweep the A's and take the Tigers to their first World Series in over 20 years.

Justin Verlander’s No-Hitter

Tonight the Twins and Tigers kick-off a four game series in Detroit that will most likely decide the AL Central.  With neither team in wild card contention, the stakes are high.  The good people of motown gotta feel good about this one being a home series.  Tomorrow night, they'll feel even better if Justin Verlander has an outing like June 12th, 2007.  BSG is here to help your remember it.
