Justin Verlander’s No-Hitter

Justin Verlander’s No-Hitter

Tonight the Twins and Tigers kick-off a four game series in Detroit that will most likely decide the AL Central.  With neither team in wild card contention, the stakes are high.  The good people of motown gotta feel good about this one being a home series.  Tomorrow night, they’ll feel even better if Justin Verlander has an outing like June 12th, 2007.  BSG is here to help your remember it.

BSG’s Who to Watch: NL East

BSG’s Who to Watch: NL East

Welcome to the first of our new semi-weekly series, BSG’s Who to Watch! We figured if you’d gone to all the effort to visit a site about a man who imitates batting stances, you might be interested in getting his take on the best stances to watch on your local FSN channel (shameless plug) this MLB season. So we’ll be breaking down a different batch of hitters each week, starting with the NL East. Enjoy!

Gibson vs Eckersley

Gibson vs Eckersley

The winner of this week’s video poll, and the first of many FSN/BSG Classic Moments we’ll be sharing with you here on the site, is none other than the Kirk Gibson’s game winning HR off Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.  It’s all there folks, the Magnum PI staches, the fist pumps, Tommy Lasorda’s gut, it’s really just as good as it gets.  To make things extra fun, we’ve included the original footage.  See if you can tell em apart.  Here’s a hint, in the real game they used a ball.  Enjoy!

The “Rise” of the Batting Stance Guy

The “Rise” of the Batting Stance Guy

So while we realize that some of the baseball nation’s… umm “love,” for Mr. Ramirez may have faded a little in the past few weeks, we hope that you won’t hold it against BSG.  We can promise you the only performance-enhancing drug he uses with regularity is the pure cane sugar found in Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies.  I mean seriously, you don’t think a grown man behaves this way w/o a daily afternoon sugar rush do you?  If you’re interested in knowing more about what makes the man tick, check out these videos.  Enjoy.

Yankees : 2009 Edition

Yankees : 2009 Edition

Partly because the baseball season is now in full swing, and partly because we agree that the current stance video for the Yanks doesn’t really do the team, or BSG, full justice, we’re breaking down the 09′ edition of the Bronx Bombers. Since we’re dealing with New York fans here, we suppose “Enjoy” may be a little too hopeful, so let the critiquing begin! (And Enjoy!)

BSG and Manny Ramirez

BSG and Manny Ramirez

There’s really no good reason Manny Ramirez should ever be chasing a wiffle ball bat for someone, we don’t know why he did it for us, but he did.  Thanks Manny.  The AP says what this is better than we could.   “Gar Ryness is known as the ‘Batting Stance Guy’. He does impressions of major leaguers in their batting stances. Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez loved his mimickry.”  “Loved” is a relative term.  Enjoy.

BSG on the field with Manny and Furcal

You know, it’s true what they say, everything does sound better with a Dominican accent. Or maybe it’s just that we’re suckers for praise from Manny Ramirez. Either way, if you’ve ever wondered what the Dodgers slugger’s laugh sounds like, we’ve got it in abundance. Enjoy!

From the Archives… BSG on Angels Live

From the Archives… BSG on Angels Live

The year was 2008, it was early September, the race for the presidency was heating up,  Manny was still settling in in L.A., a Rays/Phillies Series seemed unlikely, and a little known man with a wiffle ball bat was making his rounds through the pre-game shows of so-cal baseball.  Alot has changed since BSG’s appearance on FSN’s Angels Live, but the wiffle ball bat is still going strong.  Enjoy some footage from the archives.
