Yes folks, the rumors are true, the man of a thousand stances is coming to a bookstore near you. We are excited to announce that, Batting Stance Guy : A Love Letter to Baseball, is available for pre-order, and will hit the bookshelves on May 11th. For anyone who’s watched BSG’s backyard stance videos and thought to yourself, “that guy should have a book,” your day has come.

Last night’s rain-out only mounts the tension for what should be a dynamite double-header today at Comerica Park. Yesterday we got you Tigers fans in the mood with Verlander’s heroics. Today we’re here for the Twins’ fans with perhaps the greatest moment in your franchise’s history, and the last time you were in the World Series. Enjoy all the action in motown today folks.

Tonight the Twins and Tigers kick-off a four game series in Detroit that will most likely decide the AL Central. With neither team in wild card contention, the stakes are high. The good people of motown gotta feel good about this one being a home series. Tomorrow night, they’ll feel even better if Justin Verlander has an outing like June 12th, 2007. BSG is here to help your remember it.

The winner of this week’s video poll, and the first of many FSN/BSG Classic Moments we’ll be sharing with you here on the site, is none other than the Kirk Gibson’s game winning HR off Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. Partly because the baseball season is now in full swing, and partly because we agree that the current stance video for the Yanks doesn’t really do the team, or BSG, full justice, we’re breaking down the 09′ edition of the Bronx Bombers. There’s really no good reason Manny Ramirez should ever be chasing a wiffle ball bat for someone, we don’t know why he did it for us, but he did. Thanks Manny. The AP says what this is better than we could. “Gar Ryness is known as the ‘Batting Stance Guy’. He does impressions of major leaguers in their batting stances. Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez loved his mimickry.” “Loved” is a relative term. Enjoy.

The year was 2008, it was early September, the race for the presidency was heating up, Manny was still settling in in L.A., a Rays/Phillies Series seemed unlikely, and a little known man with a wiffle ball bat was making his rounds through the pre-game shows of so-cal baseball. Alot has changed since BSG’s appearance on FSN’s Angels Live, but the wiffle ball bat is still going strong. Enjoy some footage from the archives.
