BSG with the A’s

BSG with the A’s

If you’ve read his book, then you know BSG is a bay area native.  If not, Amazon’s got plenty of copies of A Love Letter to Baseball just waiting for you to enjoy!  So it was quite the homecoming last week when BSG took the field at Oakland Coliseum to chat it up with the A’s.  Only slightly less interesting to the crowd than the post-game fireworks, BSG was still able to talk stances with Andrew Bailey and Daric Barton.  Enjoy!

2010 Rangers

2010 Rangers

The Rangers looked good in their first test against prominent division rivals, the Oakland A’s, winning the series this week 2-1.  And as they head up to Toronto today to challenge the mighty Blue Jays, BSG takes a look at what makes this such a great stance team.  With the Angels on the decline, C.J. Wilson getting things done on the mound, and Hamilton, Kinsler, and Cruz at the plate, might this be the year the Rangers add a 2nd win to their postseason journal?  Or is it just the year you buy a book about batting stances?  Either way, it’s the 2010 Rangers.

2010 Mariners Preview

2010 Mariners Preview

Fun fact for the day: today in 1986 Roger Clemens struck out 20 Mariners.  The M’s are lookin better in 2010 though, and after a pre-season cover appearance on ESPN The Magazine, they’re the trendy pick in the AL West.  Maybe folks are just sick of the Angels taking it, who knows.  If you’re not familiar with the new Seattle lineup, BSG doesn’t miss a one.  Here are your 2010 Seattle Mariners.  Enjoy!

2010 Angels Preview

2010 Angels Preview

Fresh off his career 1000th hit, BSG takes a look at Hideki Matsui and the rest of the 2010 Angels.  Just how does Mike Scioscia keep this club at the top of the AL West and competing in the playoffs year after year?  BSG isn’t sure, but he loves the lineup and the fact that the All-Star game will be in Anaheim this year.  Enjoy your 2010 Angels!

Jim Edmonds – The Catch

Jim Edmonds – The Catch

So we’re not gonna lie, with BSG being based outta LA, a Dodgers/Angles World Series has a nice ring to it.  So to help things along, this week we’ll be taking a look at some classic moments in both teams’ histories.  Today, we’re leading off with the Jim Edmonds 1997 marvel known simply to Angels fans as, “The Catch.”  Niners fans, take no offense, we still love Dwight Clark too.  Enjoy!

Gibson vs Eckersley

Gibson vs Eckersley

The winner of this week’s video poll, and the first of many FSN/BSG Classic Moments we’ll be sharing with you here on the site, is none other than the Kirk Gibson’s game winning HR off Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.  It’s all there folks, the Magnum PI staches, the fist pumps, Tommy Lasorda’s gut, it’s really just as good as it gets.  To make things extra fun, we’ve included the original footage.  See if you can tell em apart.  Here’s a hint, in the real game they used a ball.  Enjoy!
