BSG breaks down the new Red Sox

BSG breaks down the new Red Sox

While down in Tampa for RaysFest, BSG caught up with our friends from Boston, the good people at WEEI.  They asked for his take on the new sluggers they’ll be seeing in Red Sox uniforms this year.  So here they all are, in all their pre-Fenway innocence, Bill Hall, Mike Cameron, Marco Scutaro, Jeremy Hermida and Adrian Beltre.  Enjoy!

Ordoñez’s 2006 ALCS-ending HR

Ordoñez’s 2006 ALCS-ending HR

We got a good one going in Detroit folks.  Yesterday the Twins and Tigers split the doubleheader to keep the Tigers 2 up.  Today they start the 2nd half of their 4-game series at Comerica.  The evening win for the Tigers yesterday was thanks in large part to a 2 run scoring double from a guy who’s done it before for em.  Have a look at the shot Magglio Ordonez hit in the 2006 ALCS to sweep the A’s and take the Tigers to their first World Series in over 20 years.

Entertaining the Twins

Entertaining the Twins

The Twins are in this thing folks.  Their race with Detroit looks to be the only divisional battle left to watch down the stretch.  BSG was recently in the land of 1,000 lakes to entertain the Twins and enjoy the hospitality at the Minnesota State Fair.  We’re not saying the visit had anything to do with their current success, but hey it couldn’t of hurt right? Right?  Bert Blyleven, this is all for you.

Verlander’s No-Hitter

Verlander’s No-Hitter

Tonight the Twins and Tigers kick-off a four game series in Detroit that will most likely decide the AL Central.  With neither team in wild card contention, the stakes are high.  The good people of motown gotta feel good about this one being a home series.  Tomorrow night, they’ll feel even better if Justin Verlander has an outing like June 12th, 2007.  BSG is here to help your remember it.

Dodgers Homerun Rally

Dodgers Homerun Rally

We’re gonna go out on a limb and say the Dodgers take the NL West.  So to help get folks in a LA state of mind for the postseason, here’s a little gem from 2006. Back to Back to Back to Back, and then Nomar walked off.  Sure, only Martin remains, but we think this bunch still has what it takes.  Enjoy!

BSG’s Who To Watch : AL MVP Candidates

Here they are folks, the big time players of the 2009 American League.  Some you’ve met and know well.  Some are new faces on the scene (Kendry Morales we’re looking at you).  Some we’ll be seeing in October, and others… well not so much (Sorry Ben Zobrist and the Rays, we filmed this a couple weeks ago).  But for now, in this moment, they’re all right here in this week’s Who To Watch.  Enjoy!

Jim Edmonds – The Catch

Jim Edmonds – The Catch

So we’re not gonna lie, with BSG being based outta LA, a Dodgers/Angles World Series has a nice ring to it.  So to help things along, this week we’ll be taking a look at some classic moments in both teams’ histories.  Today, we’re leading off with the Jim Edmonds 1997 marvel known simply to Angels fans as, “The Catch.”  Niners fans, take no offense, we still love Dwight Clark too.  Enjoy!

BSG’s Who To Watch: AL East

BSG’s Who To Watch: AL East

The big bad AL East. This is where it all starts and ends folks. And while it may be all over but the crying for any non-Yankees to clinch a division title this year, we wanted you to know that BSG hasn’t forgotten about these fellas. Scutaro, Aybar, and Markakis might not be names you’ll hear this year after September, so don’t miss your chance to see these stances in action now. As for Youkilis, we think he’s been fairly covered at this point. Enjoy!

Stretchin’ with the Rockies

Stretchin’ with the Rockies

There comes a point in a man’s life when he has to be comfortable with big, athletic, grown men vigorously stretching in a circle around him while he does goofy little impressions of them and their colleagues for amusement. The court jester lives by one rule: keep the court laughing. Fortunately for us the Rockies all have pretty good senses of humor. Whew. Enjoy!

Prince Fielder’s 2008 Walk-Off HR

In honor of BSG’s trip to Milwaukee and his stance showdown with NL All-Star and homerun derby champ, Prince Fielder, we thought we’d take a look back at the slugger’s monster walk-off HR against the Pittsburgh Pirates from late September of last year.  This at-bat by the man with the most jersey in baseball spurred the Brewers on to their first playoff appearance in 26 years,  and gave us all a glimpse of what a major league gut looks like.  yikes.  Enjoy!

BSG’s Who to Watch: NL East

Welcome to the first of our new semi-weekly series, BSG’s Who to Watch! So we’ll be breaking down a different batch of hitters each week, starting with the NL East. Enjoy!
