Questions from BSG’s Daughters with Evan Longoria

Questions from BSG’s Daughters with Evan Longoria

Been a rough week for the Tampa Bay Rays, but they’ll try and stop the bleeding as they look to avoid the sweep vs. the Padres this afternoon.  If not, Evan Longoria won’t be able to cheer himself up with a Starbucks Lemon Loaf.  What else does he not like? Find out in Questions From BSG’s Daughters.

After the Yanks defeat at the hands of the D-Backs last night, the Rays will look to reclaim a share of the best record in the league tonight as they take on the NL West leading San Diego Padres.  The Rays will have many questions to answer down the stretch about their ability to hang in the brutal AL East, but first Carlos Pena has to answer questions from BSG’s daughters.

The 1986 New York Mets

The 1986 New York Mets

BSG with the A’s

BSG with the A’s

If you’ve read his book, then you know BSG is a bay area native.  If not, Amazon’s got plenty of copies of A Love Letter to Baseball just waiting for you to enjoy!  So it was quite the homecoming last week when BSG took the field at Oakland Coliseum to chat it up with the A’s.  Only slightly less interesting to the crowd than the post-game fireworks, BSG was still able to talk stances with Andrew Bailey and Daric Barton.  Enjoy!

Questions from my Daughters for Drew Storen

Questions from my Daughters for Drew Storen

Last night the Washington Nationals drafted 17 yr old hitting golden boy, Bryce Harper, 1st overall.  Tonight, in a story receiving almost no media attention, the Nats pitching prospect phenom (say that 3 times fast) Stephen Strasburg, takes the mound for the 1st time.  Big news for sure, but the Washington rookie drafted after Strasburg last year (and called up first), Drew Storen, is the first of those 3 to play Questions From My Daughters with BSG, sooooo…… what’s bigger?

REPLAY : Well Nats fans, you may have missed a Strasburg start last night, but we’ve got the next best thing… it’s BSG at your park!  So come out to Nationals Park tonight to see BSG on the field for pre-game, and bring a copy of your book (you have bought it right) to have the stance-master himself sign it.  Who knows, maybe he’ll play questions from his daughters with you.

2010 Rangers

2010 Rangers

The Rangers looked good in their first test against prominent division rivals, the Oakland A’s, winning the series this week 2-1.  And as they head up to Toronto today to challenge the mighty Blue Jays, BSG takes a look at what makes this such a great stance team.  With the Angels on the decline, C.J. Wilson getting things done on the mound, and Hamilton, Kinsler, and Cruz at the plate, might this be the year the Rangers add a 2nd win to their postseason journal?  Or is it just the year you buy a book about batting stances?  Either way, it’s the 2010 Rangers.

2010 Reds

2010 Reds

Just to prove that we haven’t forgotten our roots now that we’re big time published authors, today we continue on with our team “preview” series.  We’ll kick things off with the Reds, who, as BSG notes, haven’t seen a winning season since 2000.  But things are looking up in Cincy these days, and partially thanks to the stance magic of Brandon Phillips, the Reds currently find themselves only a game back of the mighty Cardinals.  In a preview that takes an equal look at fertility and baseball, here are the 2010 Reds.  Enjoy!

2010 Rockies

2010 Rockies

From the way things have started out there, whoever comes outta the NL West this year is gonna have to win a fight.  Will it be the Rockies?  Gammonds and Reynolds like em, but does BSG?  He got an inside look at the rocky mountain boys last year, but, as usual, it’s the lineup that interests him most.  And for our daily reader Don Baylor, he’s got a couple suggestions on how to manage your hitters.  It’s the 2010 Rockies.

2010 Tigers Preview

2010 Tigers Preview

BSG’s worries that Magglio Ordonez stored his mojo in his jheri curl mullet were calmed yesterday as Mags got his 2,000th career hit in a win over the Twins.  Those two seemed to have picked back up right where they left off last year in the AL Central, which should mean another fun battle for all of us.  BSG likes the Detroit lineup, and, like the rest of the world, thinks the Damon addition will probably help.  But he still misses that jheri curl. Enjoy!

2010 Mariners Preview

Fun fact for the day: today in 1986 Roger Clemens struck out 20 Mariners.  The M’s are lookin better in 2010 though, and after a pre-season cover appearance on ESPN The Magazine, they’re the trendy pick in the AL West.  Maybe folks are just sick of the Angels taking it, who knows.  If you’re not familiar with the new Seattle lineup, BSG doesn’t miss a one.  Here are your 2010 Seattle Mariners.  Enjoy!

2010 Rays Preview

2010 Rays Preview

So we swear we recorded this before the Rays had the best record in baseball, but even if you don’t believe us, they do, and we did, so lets get on it with it.  BSG likes him some Rays.  He likes that it would feel as natural to see Madden at a Coldplay concert as in the dugout at Tropicana.  He likes that they’ve got a roster brimming with young talent.  He likes that, in the toughest division in baseball, they’ve come outta the gates red hot.  Does that have anything to do with the fact that they gave him his own jersey?  You decide.  The 2010 Rays.

Fresh off his career 1000th hit, BSG takes a look at Hideki Matsui and the rest of the 2010 Angels.  Just how does Mike Scioscia keep this club at the top of the AL West and competing in the playoffs year after year?  BSG isn’t sure, but he loves the lineup and the fact that the All-Star game will be in Anaheim this year.  Enjoy your 2010 Angels!
