There’s really no good reason Manny Ramirez should ever be chasing a wiffle ball bat for someone, we don’t know why he did it for us, but he did. Thanks Manny. The AP says what this is better than we could. “Gar Ryness is known as the ‘Batting Stance Guy’. He does impressions of major leaguers in their batting stances. Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez loved his mimickry.” “Loved” is a relative term. Enjoy.

In honor of the World Series getting going, we have BSG’s take on every walk-off homer from the past 30 years of the fall classic. It just edged out the greatest tobacco chaw swings. Thanks to all who participated in the poll, and enjoy!

Because they really needed some extra attention (and cause BSG just thinks they have by far the most interesting lineup of stances), here are the 2008 playoff Red Sox for your enjoyment. If you have issue with the selection, make your argument here for one of the other remaining lineups, we’d love to hear what people think.

It’s the trading deadline & Miguel Tejada just got moved to the Padres. Remember when he blew a gasket after D Lowe K’d T Long to end the 2OO4 ALDS? So do we. It’s the All-Temper team….

Nats fans, if you missed BSG at the ballpark last night, fear not, the good folks at MASN made sure to capture the magic for us all. Check it out as BSG breaks down the Nationals starting lineup for Johnny Holliday and Ray Knight. Thanks to everyone who came out to the park, to MASN for taking such good care of us, and to Ray Knight just for being Ray Knight. Enjoy!

Batting Stance Guy would like to send a heartfelt congratulations to Andre Dawson on being the lone player inducted into the 2010 Hall of Fame! We’ve got nothing against Whitey Herzog, but that’s some difficult stance footage to come by. Enjoy your day in Cooperstown Hawk… I’m sorry, Mr. Hawk.

Earlier this year BSG put down the razor for a few days to bring you good people the 1st and 2nd All-Mustache teams, the All-Beard team, and the first ever All-Fu Manchu team. It was a strong, but incomplete effort. Today he completes that illustrious set of facial hair goodness, by bringing you the best kept chin hairs in MLB history. It’s the All-Goatee Team, in under a minute!

Now that we’re through the allstar break, we hope everyone enjoyed the start of the second half of the season this weekend. The Cardinals and A’s for sure did, picking up where they left off to stretch their winning streaks to 5 games. The White Sox on the other hand…. BSG breaks it all down for you this week, from where else, but Jackson Mississippi, home of the Mississippi Braves, Brian McCann’s MLB roots, and Phil Wellman’s antics. It’s the Week in Review!
12. July 2010

Coming to you from the shores of Mailbu, it’s the Independence Day edition of the Week in Review! BSG has much to say about the upcoming all-star break and the league’s first rendition of the rosters, but he’ll save that for later in the week. For your national holiday, he digs deep into the numbers supplied by the good folks at wezen-ball.com, and comes back with the only 4th of July, baseball-themed, video-blog to analyze base-running times. God bless America. It’s the Week in Review!

Not too much to add to that title, so we’ll just say thanks to the Bleacher Report for including him. And #6 at that. It’s a great list though, and we gotta give props to our buddy Josh Womack for topping the group. So far, it’s the only stance BSG can’t imitate. So check it out > The 20 Coolest Sports Tricks in History.

The Yankees and Dodgers kickoff an interleague series for the ages tonight in LA. Will Torre and Girardi let it be a free-swinging affair for their clubs? If so, we could see some other hitters join this group. It’s Batting Stance Guy with the All-Strikeout Team. Enjoy!

Been a rough week for the Tampa Bay Rays, but they’ll try and stop the bleeding as they look to avoid the sweep vs. the Padres this afternoon. If not, Evan Longoria won’t be able to cheer himself up with a Starbucks Lemon Loaf. What else does he not like? Find out in Questions From BSG’s Daughters.
23. June 2010
When you’re trying to imitate stances for all of baseball, it helps to talk to someone who’s been around. Enter Hard Hittin’ Mark Whiten, who played for 8 MLB teams in his illustrious career. BSG took some time at spring training in Tampa this year to talk stances with the journeyman slugger. Enjoy!
22. June 2010
After the Yanks defeat at the hands of the D-Backs last night, the Rays will look to reclaim a share of the best record in the league tonight as they take on the NL West leading San Diego Padres. The Rays will have many questions to answer down the stretch about their ability to hang in the brutal AL East, but first Carlos Pena has to answer questions from BSG’s daughters.

In this week’s rendition of the Week in Review, BSG takes a look at the “stop-action-pose,” and who’s doing it best. And he had some heavy contenders this week with things like Adrian Beltre’s falldown blast over the Green Monster. But in the end, Hanley Ramirez takes the cake. BSG explains why. It’s the Week In Review!

The Mets had a rough weekend, losing the subway series to the Yanks and ending their 7 game road winning streak. And to add insult to injury, Johan Santana managed to tie the Mets’ single season record of 3 allowed grand slams in the process. Ouch. But fear not Mets fans, BSG is here to ease your pain with memories of times not so long ago. So here they are, fresh out of 1986, the World Champion New York Mets.

As interleague play plunges onward, the Tampa Bay Rays take their best-record-in-baseball up against the NL East leading Atlanta Braves as they try to win the series tonight. Rays fans will be hoping for a repeat of Evan Longoria’s 3 RBI Tueday night outing this evening. But first, he’s got the ultimate challenge before him. It’s Who Knows you Better with the Batting Stance Guy.
16. June 2010
Tampa Bay Rays slugger, Carlos Pena, recently ended a 6 game HR streak, coming just 2 games shy of the MLB record held by Dale Long, Don Mattingly, and the recently retired, Ken Griffey Jr. It was the 2nd biggest moment of his 2010 season, as just a few months earlier, to his great surprise, he got to play Who Knows You Better with the Batting Stance Guy. It’s been a big year for Carlos, its been a real big year.
