New York Mets LF Lucas Duda won the 2010 Mets minor leagues organizational MVP award. His time in the bigs has been a mixed bag, but fans love his size and I love The Goonies…both come together for Rookie Watch 2010!

Brett Wallace has been traded for many Hall-of-Famers. Now he is finally in the majors. He is surrounded by many other Astro rookies. The Bay Area birthed this future star. The stars at night, they shine so bright……deep in the heart of Texas. RookieWatch from Rosenblatt!

The Nationals called up obvious rookie studs Ian Desmond, Stephen Strasburg & Drew Storen. So how come Roger Bernadina is playing so well? Sometime the tortoise beats the hair’s. The audio is bad, here at Nationals Park. But the visuals are nice. Rookie Watch spares no expense reporting live from DC (unless you count the […]
The Cleveland Indians introduced Jason Donald to the loyal Tribe faithful in 2010. His lasting image is holding his helmet with both hands at utter shock of breaking up Galarraga’s perfect game. Rookie Watch highlights the bad smell of that play….surrounded by bad smells. Too bad YouTube doesn’t employ a scratch n’ sniff screen. Rookie Watch 2010!
Brennan Boesch raced out to the hottest start in the AL for 2010 rookies. He has since come back to earth but is leading the Tigers in jersey sales and quirky swing follow-thru’s. Both important. Rookie Watch salutes BB.

Adrian Peterson or Chris Johnson? Lots of choices this year in Fantasy Football drafts. Why is a rookie Astros infielder hitting .300 trying to sway me away from AllDay? Luckily for you, the setting is at the ProBowlWannabee’s 2010 draft. My co-owner may have taken things too far. Oh, they’re not dolls….they’re action figures. It’s RookieWatch2010!

If you’re a Mets fan, the date October 28, 1986, probably has some pretty important significance. If you’re Mets rookie catcher Josh Thole, it’s your birthday (as in actual BIRTH – day). And if you have no idea what we’re talking about here, no worries, BSG’s got Rookie Watch for you to tie it all together.

What does the UFL signing of former Buckeye, and NFL, umm…”star” Maurice Clarett have to with St. Louis Cardinals’ rookie sensation Jon Jay? In a word, Omaha. Live from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, where Jay played in the 2004 College World Series with the U, and where the Omaha Nighthawks have recently signed Clarett, (see there’s the connection) BSG brings you Rookie Watch!
26. August 2010
There might not be much else for the good people of Milwaukee to be excited about for their Brewers right now, but at least the future looks bright for rookie catcher Jonathan Lucroy. There’s also BSG’s 2nd Brewers rookie to “The Wire” analogy in as many weeks. Get pumped Milwaukee, it’s Rookie Watch.
24. August 2010
Austin Jackson is quickly moving through Tigers rookie history as his hitting numbers continue to grow. You already have to go back to 1961 and Jake Wood to find the last Tigers rookie with as many hits in his opening season, and there appears to be nothing slowing this kid down. For all the Detroit fans who have been screaming at BSG all month long, your day has come. It’s Austin Jackson Rookie Watch!
19. August 2010
In perhaps his greatest pop culture tie-in to date, Batting Stance Guy looks at the stance and the connections to HBO’s “The Wire” (not kidding) for the Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie shortstop, Alcides Escobar. It’s Rookie Watch!
17. August 2010
Today BSG takes a look at a rookie who is being asked to fill the big shoes of Chipper Jones in Atlanta’s push for the postseason and more, and succeeding wildly. Already with more career walk-offs then most of the league, Brooks Conrad has quickly endeared himself to Braves fans. As for BSG, he was so smitten he did his stance in person. It’s Rookie Watch 2010

He’s heard the cries from the crowd, he’s seen the stats, he’s been as disappointed as anyone that this rookie didn’t choose a better name, and now BSG responds to the faithful with the none other than the Florida Marlins’ rookie HR machine, Mike Stanton. Its week 3 of Rookie Watch.
13. August 2010
We bookend week 2 of Rookie Watch with another Cubs youngster. The Cubs lost 3 outta 4 in their series with the Giants this week, so it would’ve been easy to miss rookie Starlin Castro’s 10 for 20 performance, including a 4 hit day in the final game yesterday, but BSG didn’t. Castro has had a pretty stellar rookie season in general, opening with a HR and batting well over .300, but BSG is pained to know that he didn’t even see a minute of the 80’s. Just in time to feel old for your weekend, it’s Rookie Watch!
12. August 2010
Today for Rookie Watch, BSG takes a look at Angels rookie, Torii Hunter’s outfield replacement, Peter Bourjos. With a well-timed squeeze bunt in Tuesday night’s win against the Kansas City Royals, Bourjos has officially doubled his RBI production for the year and is ready to join the pre-game, model airplane high-jinks with teammates, Ervin Santana and Howie Kendrick. Don’t get the joke, well you’ll just have to watch Rookie Watch!
11. August 2010
Today we have a look at Mets rookie, Ike Davis, who sprang on the scene early this season with clutch-hitting, and exceptional infield play. His avg may have cooled off lately, but BSG is still excited about his stance, and the fact that he wisely chose to not wear his dad, Ron Davis’s oversized spectacles to the plate. It’s Rookie Watch!
10. August 2010
Gaby Sanchez may have gained recent notoriety from the double stolen from him last week as the Marlins lost to the Philles in controversial fashion, but BSG thinks he’s got a shot at Rookie of the Year, and loves the low-to-the-ground stance he sports. Get to the know Sanchez better in today’s edition of Rookie Watch!
9. August 2010
BSG starts off the 2nd week of Rookie Watch with the Chicago Cubs’s young upstart, Tyler Colvin. This guy may not be getting the attention he deserves, but don’t let the less-than-exciting stance fool you, he’s been a HR machine for the Cubbies, and is worth a watch. It’s Rookie Watch, WEEK 2!!
6. August 2010
As week one of rookie watch comes to a close, BSG heads to the land of 10,000 lakes to bring you the stance of the Twins’ latest call-up, Danny Valencia. The tampa catwalk may have gotten it done last night for Minnesota, but if they manage to take the AL Central, having a kid like Valencia hitting .350 will help too. Enjoy your Friday, and get your votes in for next week! It’s rookie watch.
