There comes a point in a man’s life when he has to be comfortable with big, athletic, grown men vigorously stretching in a circle around him while he does goofy little impressions of them and their colleagues for amusement. The court jester lives by one rule: keep the court laughing. Fortunately for us the Rockies all have pretty good senses of humor. Whew. Enjoy!

One is a National League All-Star and the reigning Homerun Derby champ, the other, a 36 yr old balding man with a wiffle ball bat. It’s a showdown for the ages as Batting Stance Guy goes head to head with the Milwaukee Brewer’s Prince Fielder in the first ever “Swing-Off!” And if you haven’t seen Prince do his thing before, we gotta tell you, you’re in for a treat. The other guy, well.. you know.

Just as no good U2 concert ends without a rendition of “With or Without You”, there have been few appearances in the last year for BSG that haven’t involved a Kevin Youkilis swing. Back in February BSG took a trip down to Florida to visit with the Red Sox at spring training and got some face time with the man with the best stance in baseball. Learn everything you ever wanted to know about the AL All-Star, from why he sweats in his own eyes to why he based his warm-up swing on Jeter’s (yikes) in this 5-part “interview” with BSG. Enjoy!

It’s that time of year again, so we thought we’d give BSG a challenge. It’s the full lineups for the 09 NL and AL All-Stars, each in under a minute. Tell us how he does.

If Micheal Bay can make not one, but two Transformers movies, then we can surely offer a second helping of famous batting stances from the big screen. If we’ve missed any of your favorites here, hit us up with suggestions and maybe we’ll make it a trilogy. Enjoy!

The first Michael Bay film of the year hitting theatres can only mean one thing… the summer movie season has officially begun. Not to be outdone, BSG decided to take a short break from the big leagues to tackle the best stances from the silver screen. A tip to all you production researchers out there, make sure to get a handle on Shoeless Joe Jackson’s left/right switch before putting Ray Liotta at the plate. Enjoy!

Partly because we wanna give you you every opportunity to see this, and partly because we can’t get enough of watching it ourselves (total narcissim) here’s that E:60 piece one more time. It’s called the “Art of the Stance,” it was produced by BlueFoot Entertainment outta Hartford CT, it’s been airing on ESPN with some regularity, and what can we say, we love it. Hope you do too. Enjoy
7. May 2009
Partly because the baseball season is now in full swing, and partly because we agree that the current stance video for the Yanks doesn’t really do the team, or BSG, full justice, we’re breaking down the 09′ edition of the Bronx Bombers. Since we’re dealing with New York fans here, we suppose “Enjoy” may be a little too hopeful, so let the critiquing begin! (And Enjoy!)

There’s really no good reason Manny Ramirez should ever be chasing a wiffle ball bat for someone, we don’t know why he did it for us, but he did. Thanks Manny. The AP says what this is better than we could. “Gar Ryness is known as the ‘Batting Stance Guy’. He does impressions of major leaguers in their batting stances. Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez loved his mimickry.” “Loved” is a relative term. Enjoy.

You know, it’s true what they say, everything does sound better with a Dominican accent. Or maybe it’s just that we’re suckers for praise from Manny Ramirez. Either way, if you’ve ever wondered what the Dodgers slugger’s laugh sounds like, we’ve got it in abundance. Enjoy!

BSG was on the air with Murph & Mac of the bay area’s KNBR 680/1050 this morning talking stances. After growing up in the bay area, he always knew he’d find a way to impress the folks at his 25 year high school reunion, and here’s the proof. Have a listen:
31. October 2008

Because they really needed some extra attention (and cause BSG just thinks they have by far the most interesting lineup of stances), here are the 2008 playoff Red Sox for your enjoyment. If you have issue with the selection, make your argument here for one of the other remaining lineups, we’d love to hear what people think.
