The first Michael Bay film of the year hitting theatres can only mean one thing… the summer movie season has officially begun. Not to be outdone, BSG decided to take a short break from the big leagues to tackle the best stances from the silver screen. A tip to all you production researchers out there, make sure to get a handle on Shoeless Joe Jackson’s left/right switch before putting Ray Liotta at the plate. Enjoy!

Partly because the baseball season is now in full swing, and partly because we agree that the current stance video for the Yanks doesn’t really do the team, or BSG, full justice, we’re breaking down the 09′ edition of the Bronx Bombers. Since we’re dealing with New York fans here, we suppose “Enjoy” may be a little too hopeful, so let the critiquing begin! (And Enjoy!)

So while we realize that some of the baseball nation’s… umm “love,” for Mr. Ramirez may have faded a little in the past few weeks, we hope that you won’t hold it against BSG. We can promise you the only performance-enhancing drug he uses with regularity is the pure cane sugar found in Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies. There’s really no good reason Manny Ramirez should ever be chasing a wiffle ball bat for someone, we don’t know why he did it for us, but he did. Thanks Manny. The AP says what this is better than we could. “Gar Ryness is known as the ‘Batting Stance Guy’. He does impressions of major leaguers in their batting stances. Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez loved his mimickry.” “Loved” is a relative term. Enjoy.

The year was 2008, it was early September, the race for the presidency was heating up, Manny was still settling in in L.A., a Rays/Phillies Series seemed unlikely, and a little known man with a wiffle ball bat was making his rounds through the pre-game shows of so-cal baseball. Alot has changed since BSG’s appearance on FSN’s Angels Live, but the wiffle ball bat is still going strong. Enjoy some footage from the archives.

The good folks at WEEI in Boston had BSG down to Florida for spring training with the Sox, and we’ve got the video to prove it. It’s nothing but fun with Big Papi, Youkilis, and the gang.
